About

SISTAH SOLDJAH
Sistah Soldjah is a character and persona that was birthed out of Christine Turner Jackson’s desire to create a humorous character who can deliver clean comedy to audiences of all ages in diverse venues. As a former classroom teacher and teacher of 5th/6th grade students in her church children’s ministry, comedy has always been a critical component of her delivery. The debut of Sistah Soldjah occurred in March 2010 as a result of performing in a Laughing Out Loud Comedy competition sponsored by her church, Hope Christian Church. Sistah Soldjah competed against 2 other female comedians and captured the title of Queen of LOL Comedy. Her “Fight the Power” theme has been well received, because she focuses on real life “battles”, issues and struggles as well as her own biblical revelation.
Since making her debut in 2010, she has performed at the Lincoln Theater in Washington, DC as part of a Martin Luther King, Jr. birthday celebration variety show. She also makes appearances at special events such as birthday and anniversary celebrations. She has begun to engage with women and youth through book clubs, church ministries, sororities, school groups, and mentoring organizations sharing Black History facts and having relevant discussions of interest to a new generation of children and youth.
The woman behind Sistah Soldjah, Christine Turner Jackson, is the author of Pitch Black, a fictional story based on her father, Benjamin Turner, a talented high school baseball pitcher in Washington, DC in the 1950’s. She envisions using her current and future books to increase exposure for Sistah Soldjah. A new brand of clean comedy that is about to be unleashed as Sistah Soldjah begins to make her mark as a national and international comedian.

 MISSY THANG
Missy Thang is a character and persona that was birthed out of Christine Turner Jackson’s desire to create a humorous character who can deliver clean comedy to audiences of all ages in diverse venues. As a former PG County science classroom teacher and 5th/6th grade children’s ministry leader, comedy has always been a critical component of her delivery. The debut of Missy Thang occurred in 2015 as a “stand-in” host for a comedy show at Busboys and Poets featuring her other close friend comedy character, Sistah Soldjah. Since that time, Missy Thang has been well received as a character who is unapologetically confident in her skin as a woman of many talents. Most notable are her self-proclaimed flare for fashion and musical talents. Missy Thang is quick to remind her audiences that she “doesn’t miss a thang!”

She has served as the MC for fashion shows and made special appearances at events such as birthday and anniversary celebrations, as well as engaging with women and youth through book clubs, women’s conferences, at womens’ shelters and church fundraisers.

The woman behind Missy Thang (and Sistah Soldjah), is Christine Turner Jackson. She is the author of Pitch Black, a fictional story based on her father, Benjamin Turner, a talented high school baseball pitcher in Washington, DC in the 1950’s. She envisions creating a new brand of clean female comedy as she increases exposure for both Missy Thang and Sistah Soldjah as renowned national and international comedians.
